AUSTIN, Texas — People in need got free exams in Austin Saturday at the Dental Waitlist Wipeout.
The event was sponsored by Samaritan Health Ministries.
Dentists, hygienists and assistants volunteered their time on Saturday.
Officials with Samaritan Health Ministries say they have a long list of people needing dental care.
The waiting area and exam rooms were busy with patients happy to be at the dentist’s office.
“It means so much to me because I have not been able to afford any of my dental work for the last couple of years,” said patient Norma Lockwood.
“It’s always great to help people that cannot afford to do some of the things that they know they need to do,” said Volunteer Dentist Dr. Thad Gillespie.
With exams completed, patients can get the work done on a sliding fee scale.
